Day 84 of 365
Everywhere I look this week I saw Cherry blossoms blooming. A gorgeous day provided me the opportunity to go out and capture the moment.

Casting Shadows
Day 83 of 365
Today was another beautiful afternoon. I was able to take a walk with with my beautiful wife and daughter downtown at the fountain park. The sun was shining bright overhead and casting cute shadows.

Joyful Sunrise
Day 82 of 365
Wonderful sunrise this morning.
When I arrived at work I caught this interesting image of a silhouetted Turner Joy with the sun blasting out yellow highlights around the hull. The reflection in the marina water was something I had not seen before.

First Day Of Spring
Day 79 of 365
Just like clockwork the sun shines, the temperatures rise and the flower buds begin to open. It is a almost perfect first day of spring.

Super Perigee
Day 78 of 365
I waited all day for clear skies and a hopeful shot of the rare Super Perigee Moon.
I'm glad I got one because I nothing else in the basket to post.

Story Time
Day 77 of 365
Tonight we planned on setting up my daughters new "Big Girl" bed. Unfortunately I made some major miscalculations and bought the wrong size mattress for the frame. Complete F'up.
With the crib down and only a bed frame my wife made a great makeshift sleeping arrangement for my daughter. These are my girls just before bedtime reading a story.

St. Patty's Balloon
Day 76 of 365
With a name like Flynn you'd think I would come up with the perfect St. Patrick's Day photo. Unfortunately I'm still stuck in recovery mode and limited to subject matter. This year I'm settling for daughters very colorful St. Patty's balloon floating on the ceiling.
No bars, no black and tans, no jig dancing and no trying to remember Who the F@#k Alice is.

Perfect Get Well Bouquet
Day 75 of 365
It's not like I normally get flowers. I don't really have anything to gauge this against. But, if I were to build the perfect bouquet for myself, I think this would be it. Giant bright orange daisies, green and white Irish carnations, perfectly purple orchids and wonderfully white roses with a spattering of other amazing flowers.
It is simply stunning. Thanks KCU Marketing for lifting my spirits!

Hello Nurse!
Day 74 of 365
I've spent the last 24 hours with very few photo opportunities from this hospital bed. This little button is the most interesting thing I have to play with, so I took a picture of it.
Did you know that everytime you push this button somebody shows up and asks what they can do for you? I want one installed at home.

Laid Up
Day 73 of 365
Today I woke at 1:45 a.m. to an unbearable pain in my stomach. A quick trip to the E.R. and I was diagnosed with Acute Appendicitis. I went under the knife this afternoon and now I'm laid up for week.
You just never know how fast things can change.

Dropped In
Day 72 of 365
With all the depressing weather we've been having, I thought I would show a little beauty in it.
Outside of our home, where the rainwater drips from the corner of the eve, there is a small collection pool. The pool is filled with little rocks, lots of moss, the occasional flower and the steady dripping of rain on a day like this.
Catching the crown of a drip is not an easy task. For this one capture, I took about a 500 shots.

Head Tilt
Day 71 of 365
This is Lola, my mothers Chihuahua. She is a weird dog. She never seems to let me down when I have my camera out. I think this is her version of the cute dog head tilt. A bit exaggerated, but cute none-the-less.

Podclops
Day 70 of 365
I have always been fascinated how quickly the youngest just grasp the newest of technology. When we first handed the iPod to my daughter more than a year ago she just picked it up like it was the most natural thing in the world.
I'm not even sure I should be teaching her to use a mouse, it seems so backward to her.

Too Wet To Ride
Day 69 of 365
I can't imagine what this poor sole went through on this nasty, rainy, windy and just all around shitty weather morning. Even in a covered parking lot the puddles formed. under the tires.
The bike was there all day, I think they called someone for a ride home.

Golden Age of Photography
Day 68 of 365
I love this camera. It is an amazing example of the roots of photography. My good friend Sean was gracious enough to think of me when he was in an antique store. It certainly has a lot of character and is quite a prize.
This evening I was practicing a technique of bouncing my flash off of colors to get a light effect. In this case I was bouncing my flash off my yellow shirt to get the golden light casted across this camera.

End Of Line
Day 67 of 365
When I see things like this, I feel like I'm the only person in the world. But, if that were true, who's using all the toilet paper up?
The fact is, I'm the only one in the world changing the toilet paper.

Dashboard Tiki God
Day 66 of 365
When my awesome In-laws asked me what I wanted from their trip to Hawaii. I told them I wouldn't mind a dashboard hula girl. But, knowing how manly I am they figured this masculine Dashboard Tiki God of War was much more suitable.
They were right.
[Hey Justin, this ones a GOD!]

Tunnel of Fun
Day 65 of 365
After yesterdays yearning to go outside and play (see photo of Day 64), today we took my daughter to a real park so she could play on the slides.
The trip was short lived because of a small accident. It was amazing how the urine made a direct track down the leg and straight into the rubber boot. Not to mention how effectively the rubber boot retained it without leaking.

Dreaming Of Playing
Day 64 of 365
My daughter in her P.J.'s wishing she was outside playing on her playground set which is reflected in the window.

Antique Tractor
Day 63 of 365
I was driving with a friend near Seabeck and spotted these old broken and rusted out tractors being eaten by the earth in a small field. The gate was open so we pulled in to take a few photos. When we were finished, on the way out, we noticed a sign on the gate that said "No Trespassing, Violators Will Be Prosecuted". Ooops! No harm, no foul.
Is the moral of this story "No Trespassing" or "Don't leave the gate open stupid".
David Gray Concert
Day 62 of 365
I knew when I woke yesterday morning the shot I wanted for the day. Unfortunately I only brought my iPhone, it was late and there was no light in the concert hall.
At least I keep it going, even if the photo sucked.

Soaring
Day 61 of 365
Working in one of the taller buildings in town provides me with the opportunity to see the birds fly by at eye level. This was a shot out the window at my desk.

Milestone
Day 60 of 365
I had a great idea for my 60th photo. I was going to drive to the freeway pull over and get a picture of the 60 MPH speed limit sign near mile marker 49 of Highway 3. After I got that shot (which is great) I realized it was only 11 more miles from a shot that was far more meaningful to this project.
Check out the first shot here:

Innocent Enough
Day 59 of 365
I wanted to get a picture of one pair of the most beautiful eyes in the world. Thankful they are the direct product of the second pair of the most beautiful eyes in the world.
But hey, she's got my nose!

Seattle Out The Back
Day 58 of 365
We made a rare trip to Seattle to watch an amazing National Geographic photographer give a lecture about Great Migrations on easily the shittiest weather day of the year. Encouraged by great photography, I made my way to the car deck with only my wife's Canon point and shoot camera. Cold as hell, windy and rainy I bared the elements to get this photograph of The Emerald City out of the back of the ferry.
I learned one thing today, if you want the great shots, you must risk it all.

Have Your Cake
Day 57 of 365
Great Grandma had her 83rd birthday party today. This is a sampling of the homemade cake Mom made for her and decorated by a 3 year old little girl.
Who would want a birthday cake to look any other way?

Just The Begining
Day 56 of 365
I watched the news about the Middle East tonight and how their fight for freedom is relating to the rise of oil prices. When I drove to pick up dinner I noticed that my car was on "E" and stopped to fill it up. I thought I would document this visit to the pump for my daily photo.
This is going to be a long summer not driving anywhere!

Blue Ice
The lame February Winter Blast of 2011 at least created some beautiful icicles hanging from the roof. As you can see from the vivid blue sky, not much threat of forecasted snow in our neighborhood.

Making Magic
Day 54 of 365
Defiantly posting your photo.
Travis is concentrating hard at his work we admiringly call "Magic".

Seeing Salmon
Day 53 of 365
We are a family of Salmon lovers, it's a staple food in our weekly diet. We love it teriyaki style with rice, steamed with beer and brown sugar, coated in my special rub and grilled or made into my popular salmon tacos.
Ask my daughter what her favorite meal is and she will tell you joyfully "Salmon".

Don't Despair
Day 52 of 365
Walking the streets of Port Townsend today I saw this guy sitting on a bench with his head in his hands. He had an awful look of despair on his face.
I felt it was a moment I had to remember. So, I approached him for a portrait, something I normally wouldn't do. I think he knew the picture I was taking would be an important one to me.

Happy As A Duck In Water
Day 51 of 365
A visit to the waterfront early in the morning gave me the opportunity to observe and photograph a small group of Barrow's Goldeneye ducks playing with each other and having breakfast.
It seems they know most people are sleeping and this is their time.

Broken Back Barn
Day 50 of 365
Something about old rundown buildings that tend to catch my eye. This old broken barn caught my attention on a short excursion this morning. There is great color in the red of the old paint and the green of the growing moss.
Why is it that when I stop for one minute to get a picture of something on private property, that's exactly the time when the owner decides to leave home? One minute later and I wouldn't have to explain myself to anyone.

Tide Up
Day 49 of 365
Passing by a waterfront park on this frosty morning I noticed a small aluminum boat tied to a piling away from the dock. Something about it just floating there peacefully, all alone on calm waters got my attention.

Nothin' Fowl
Day 48 of 365
Every day at about 4:00 the pigeons show up to play out life scenes on the wall across from my office. They court each other, dance, play and even mate. They are pretty much the most jovial creatures on earth.
Today's scene is about two young male pigeons (on the right) checking out and making lewd remarks about the hot females tail feathers.

Splash Down
Day 47 of 365
What kid doesn't want their daddy (or mommy) to take them to a park and explicitly give them permission to splash in the puddles?
Everything was great till the boots filled with water. Then... meltdown!

Sneekin' Candy
Day 46 of 365
Notice that look. That look one her face that says "I just got caught eating M&M's in the closet before dinner". That is there because that is what she is doing. And like a responsible parent I thought it funny, opened the closet door and took a picture.

From The Heart
Day 45 of 365
Valentines Day
Today for my daily photo me and my daughter setup this Valentines Day picture. She willfully donated her collection of small hearts and help place them haphazardly around the scene. She was very excited that she could push the button to take the picture.
Does that make it her picture or mine? Hmmm?

Espressed
I thought that taking a photo of one of my photos published in the Kitsap Sun newspaper this morning would be fun for my 365. This photo named "Espresso Myself" was considered a standout in a photo challenge for the theme "Coffee".
It's fun to be published, but it sucks to have a Donuts Offense at work. Getting published in the paper means I have to buy donuts for my coworkers on Monday morning. Hmmm?

Sunny Farms
Day 43 of 365
Every time my wife and I or any friends head up the Peninsula to Sequim or Port Angeles Sunny Farms Country Store is a mandatory stop for some snackadoo's and lunch.
They are an amazing local and natural foods store and they make a mean Ham and Swiss on Dark Rye.

Corner Piece
Day 42 of 365
Today we were blessed with a wonderful batch of brownies that my co-worker brought in today. A.J. knock this treat outta the park. He made completely organic (so it's good you, right?) and they had the added deliciousness of raspberry jam and white chocolate chunks.
Who doesn't love the corner piece?

Night Shift
Day 41 of 365
Anyone with a story about this place, chime in.
I actually took this photo yesterday on a photo walk around town. Unfortunately I didn't post it because I already had a great picture for that day. So, today took a walk back and took the shot again. Thankfully the light conditions were exactly the same today.

Peeking Peninsula
Day 40 of 365
This morning was cold, foggy and frosty when I left the house. Thankfully I know these kind of conditions are usually ripe with photo ops. I drove down the waterfront where I saw this break in the fog and pulled over, the window revealed a small peninsula on the other side of the waterway, with steam rising from the warm water into the cool air and ducks patting the water as they flew by. Pretty amazing Washington State moment.

Dinner With A Good Friend
Day 39 of 365
Tonight we had dinner with a great friend, who not only brought beer but also brought great company and comradeship. Our friend is essentially a fictional character that lives a life most of us only read about in books. We are always honored when he makes time to include us in his story, if only for a short cameo.
Cheers Brother!

Bloomin'
Day 38 of 365
I arrived home this evening and saw a tiny white flower poking out of the cold cruel winter ground. It's bright white blossom glowed in the evening light as it posed for this portrait.
It's a flower, what did you expect me to say?

Smokin'
Superbowl Sunday
I spent much of the afternoon trying to find a photo for my project. I posted many pictures that would work, but this one jumped out at me for the 365.
This is how to smoke in nonsmoking household. Comradery between good buddies, sharing a smoke within a 1 foot radius around a fireplace. Blowing the smoke up the chimney? It's amazing how well this actually works.
Necessity is the mother of all invention.

Painting Project
Day 36 of 365
Today my wife and I took our daughter Aurora to the crafts store where we let her pick out art projects for valentines day gifts. They both spent wonderful art filled afternoon exploring paint, glitter, glue and markers while I tried to capture the moment.

Manette Totem
Twice a day I drive through Manette and right by this totem I know little about. It's not shocking to see a totem erected (or transplanted in this case) anywhere in our area since we live in such a rich Native American inspired territory. It's a pleasant reminder that this land was once peaceable and natural.
Either way, I've wanted to capture it and today I took the time to nab a few photos. It's funny, the images halfway up the totem looks like a guy with a mustache has a bird perched on his head.
