Day 30 of 365
For my shot today I went to an old cemetery where I knew some of the occupants were very old. I had an idea of a b&w photo of and an old headstone. Instead, I stumbled upon a few graves in the far back corner of the cemetery that were slowly being engulfed by the surrounding forest. Forgotten and consumed by the vines they are still proud testaments to the individuals.
Ever notice when you walk through an old cemetery, it's always cold and you're always alone. But then again... I don't think I want to run into anybody.

With just enough daylight left today I headed down to my favorite local marina to see what I could capture. I got quite a variety of birds and sealife. But once again I was drawn to a puddle of water with a reflection in it. Although this one, the subject matter is clearly visible.
I guess I appreciate what I see in puddles because I've seen so many in my lifetime of living in Washington.

I wanted to go outside and shoot this afternoon, but the weather wasn't cooperating with me. So, I stayed in the parking garage and worked on some long exposures.
You can see the light trails of the cars going up and down the ramp inside and outside the mirror. Unfortunately, because of the long exposure, you can't see the fools that stopped in front of my camera to make faces.

Every day we see this building from our office. Today the sun was hitting it just right to produce this great gray scale effect on the paneling.
If my shot was wider (possibly in another post) you would see how much the top this building looks like a PlayStation 2. I'm not sure whether to laugh at the stupidity of it or the brilliance. But, because of my gaming past, I'll lean towards brilliance.

Everyday I drive by this Bremerton institution. I kept telling myself I would stop and get a picture of the signage, it just stands out to me. Not just because it's an amazing 15 foot sign atop a 40 foot column of brick. Mostly because I fondly remember spending many nights here drinking and bowling with good friends. Certainly more drinking then bowling.
This is the only bowling alley I have ever been in where I was shown behind the lanes where I saw the massive nostalgic machinery that makes all that bowling shit happen. Clunking gears, clanking metal on metal and bowling balls rushing down the lanes and crashing through the pins and into the chute. Quite a memorable site.
What I wouldn't give to get my camera in there today.

Today my picture is of the most beautiful, wonderful and amazing Wife any man could ever ask for. Everyday I am thankful she is with me.

I have always loved Fire Trucks... who doesn't?
Today, due to some unfortunate sole in need, the Bremerton Fire Department responded near to me. I was granted a rare and brief opportunity to photograph their Fire Truck parked and alone.
These vehicles are amazing in detail. They command respect with their vibrant colors, defined lines and shimmering chromium. Certainly masterpieces of form and function with an odd mesh of beauty and industry. From every angle there is a capture for my camera.
I think this shot conveys that description the best.

Since we missed our weekend excursion to the wholesale warehouse, we had to go tonight. There isn't much opportunity for photographs in a Costco. I had to make due with the iPhone.
With respect for our photography project, I captured this low angle of the cheese isle.

I went to see a Gypsy Fortune Teller tonight. She told me I was the luckiest man in the world and that I should appreciate every waking moment I have with my beautiful family.
I agreed. Why did I give her $50? I already knew that.
Day 17 of 365
So every now and again my family goes to my Mother-in-laws for dinner. She is a wonderful cook and I love everything she makes. The one things she does is serve a well rounded meal with Meat/Poultry, Rice, Salad, fruit and... asparagus. She always makes perfectly prepared asparagus.
I love asparagus but my Father-in-law and wife do not like it. In fact, he has nicknamed them "Asparaguts". So, usually me and my Mother-in-law get to eat the whole heaping plate. I tend to do most of the damage.
Well, I don't know what happens to the rest of you population when they eat a huge plate of greens, but for me... well, let's just say that ironically it always has a severe impact on my "Guts".
Day 16 of 365
I pondered throughout the day what I was going to shoot for the project. I was inspired by many things like blue waffle batter, Seahawks memorabilia, dogs and cupcakes. But nothing was more inspiring then the moon this evening.
I first noticed it peeking in and out of the clouds as I drove my son across town. As much as I love my son, I really wanted to get back home to set up the camera and get a good stable shot.
When I did arrive home the conditions weren't perfect. The shot was there I just had to wait it out. The clouds where quickly whisping by and the moon, in perfect form, kept appearing and disappearing.
Persistence pays off, I only wish I had a better lens.

Day 15 of 365
Okay, half a month went by before I posted a picture of my daughter. I promised myself this project wouldn't be full of her pictures, we have a blog just for that. But, on this day, she actually asked me to take her picture with her stuffed worm.
These days it's almost impossible to take a nice picture her because she won't stand still for more than a second or two. I couldn't resist the opportunity. And at this rate she'll only be in 24 of 365 pictures.
After getting her slippers on her hands, why?... because she's a kid, she grabbed her stuffed worm, hugged it tightly and said "Cheeze!"
Day 14 of 365
When driving home a couple of days ago I spotted this strangely familiar blue object over the side of the Manette Bridge where the construction of the new bridge was happening. "Holy smokes... it's a Honey Bucket!".
As with most things construction, this probably wouldn't be there for very long. So today I ventured over to the bridge and asked the construction worker if he wouldn't mind me shooting some photos. I admitted to him I was going to be shooting the porta potty. "How many times do you see a Honey Bucket 100+ feet up?" He agreed.
Day 13 of 365
After eating leftovers from our amazing lunch yesterday, I was compelled to venture outside to walk off the gluttony. Knowing the ferry was coming in, I headed to the waterfront park with camera in hand. It was rainy, windy and typical shitty Washington winter weather day.
I said "Hi!" to the Parks & Rec. guy snapped this shot and G.T.F.O.
This is not a 365 but it relates to the previous picture and all about going Greek today.
This is a shot of pouring the copious amounts of sugar/honey/lemon water all over the layered phyllo dough and crazy sweet nutty mixture.

Day 12 of 365
Today was our annual Send Hunger Packing fund-raising winners lunch. The department, in the organization I work for, that wrangled the most money and food donations got an amazing Greek themed lunch prepared by us just for them.
I was the Sous Chef to my co-worker Cathy who prepared all the food. We created a huge Greek style meal for 30 people. I spent a good portion of my day readying the onions (thus the picture of the red onion) and preparing vegetables. We rolled dough and packing meat products into things I would never consider, like grape leaves? Who knew? We used herbs like mint in almost everything, carved canoes out of zucchini and put lemon and eggs in the chicken soup, WTF?
When it was all said and done everything tasted amazing and it was a huge success.
Day 10 of 365
Tonight I had to spend the majority of the evening setting up the server. Not much fun in this and I was running short on time on my 365 project. This subject matter seemed fitting since it's consuming so much time.
Day 9 of 365
Today I spent my afternoon working on my good friend Sean's bad ass Chevelle project car. I know I wanted a stand out shot, so I spent a lot of time shooting everything I could while still trying to be helpful.
What I really love is the sky reflection in the black paint behind the emblem.
I cannot wait till this car is on the road.
Day 8 of 365
My amazing wife loves football. She faithfully supports her Seahawks by wearing her 12th Man beanie during the entire game. Something terribly Hot about a woman that digs football. I love the way she gets excited about touchdowns.
I am proud that on this day, day 8 of my 365 where I can say "Go Hawks!" pulling off the upset game of the year over the New Orleans Saints.
Day 7 of 365
This is where photography began for me. My father gave me this camera for my photography courses in College. At the time I just needed an 35mm manual camera to complete my assignments. I didn't put much stock in the fact that he was giving up a passion of his so that I could learn it.
After using it for years and paying an absurd, but worth it $200 to repair it. I loaned it my niece, knowing it had good karma. She used it to learn her photography and then moved on to digital. She is very passionate and a wonderful photographer.
Today it was returned to me.
Now that it is home, I shall retire it onto the front of a shelf where other classic cameras are displayed. Certainly, to be in the front. Probably never used again, but never forgotten.
